Why we started

We are a free platform that helps you organize your health data. We are also a team of plant-based vegans that believe that a plant-based diet can help prevent and even reverse some of the top killer diseases in the Western world, and can be even more effective than medication and surgery.

What are we up to?

At HealthMatters we help people to organize health data. In particular: blood test results. Blood tests can say so much about the state of health of your body. A single blood test contains a lot of information that has to be stored and organized not only by doctors, but by patients themselves. Organized and stored data reveals important trends about your body’s health. We want to make this process as seamless as possible for you.

On the other hand, we are a team of Whole Foods Plant Based ambassadors that have a strong believe that diet can help prevent and even reverse some of the top killer diseases in the Western world. In some cases it can be more effective than medication and surgery. We see the plant based whole food diet as a key element to a healthy body and mind.

Therefore in HealthMatters we connect Whole Foods Plant Based nutrition and health data of your blood. Through nutritional change our users can track the change of their blood. Almost everyone knows how careful diabetics watch their sugar in blood, guess what, with the change to a healthy plant based diet you will see the difference in your blood test results in a less than a month.

What’s the problem with traditional blood test paperwork?

Whenever you go to your annual or bi-annual health checkup with your doctor, she usually draws blood and sends that blood to a lab to perform a CBC (=Complete Blood Count) test.

A complete blood count generally analyzes all the components of the blood contained in the red and white cells and the platelets. The test results give your doctor and yourself numerous indicators about your health at that point in time. Whenever the doctor gets the results back from the lab, she communicates the results back to you in some form or fashion. It ranges from a quick phone call giving you the thumbs up, to sending you a pdf copy via email to a follow up appointment discussion the results in more detail.

The lab usually indicates the results together with an optimal range. If you fall within those ranges, the result is considered normal. If you are out of a range, it could give rise to a concern (depending on the biomarkers) and you want to discuss ways to get you within the normal range with your doctor.

Over the years, those blood results pile up and left without proper organization. What if you move somewhere else or decide to declutter? Most likely this important paperwork will just get lost or end up in the trash bin. But that is not the right way to treat such valuable information.

The Solution

We realize that there is a need for combining your results into a timeline and give you a tool to see the bigger picture.

Do you know what your white blood cell count timeline looks like for the past 10 years? Most likely no, but  we think you should. To see your results on a timeline gives you incredibly valuable and insightful data that can support a discussion with your health care practitioner and most importantly give you data to understand and improve your health.

In today’s society where we move from job to job every few years, change cities, states or even continents we want to make sure that this important data does not get lost. If your doctor has never provided you with the actual results, call her today. She will have them. The results belong to you, it’s your health.

That’s why we created We let you upload your blood lab results. It’s incredibly easy to do. Once you have them uploaded you can see insightful trends that you were not able to see just looking at one single lab result.

HealthMatters is not only a tool where you can keep your old blood lab results, it is a tool that helps you look at the results and understand them.

There are a lot of factors that can impact your blood test results, such as a late and heavy dinner with friends the night before the blood was drawn, a stressful week at work or a cold that has been bothering you for a few days. A one time blood test result is not always a good indication of your health. But if you put together tests from different time periods, then you have a real picture that you and your doctor can easily see. Being able to see trends in your health is very valuable.
