Segmented Neutrophils are:

  • 1 of 5 types of white blood cells.
  • 40-60% of all white blood cells.
  • protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders

Normal range: 47 – 55 %.

low count: Can be caused by chemotherapy, radiation or a viral infection suppressing the immune system.

high count: Can be caused by inflammatory disorder (rheumatoid arthritis, gout), from infection, cancers or various other stressors (injury, burns, etc.)
